Let's Go Bowling!

Kyle's sister, Audrey was up North visiting various people.  On Saturday we hatched a plan for our little family to drive down and surprise Danielle for her birthday.

We all went out to dinner of Danielle's choice...McD's.  We got Dexter his first Happy Meal too!  Well I ate most of it, but he enjoyed the apples and some of the french fries, and of course the toy.

After dinner we headed to the local bowling alley.  Strapped on our fancy shoes and played two games.  Having Dexter proved a challenge.  He was running everywhere and on high speed.  Many hands to catch him helped though.  We'll be getting one of those harness-leash things soon.  Very soon.

After bowling we played some Yam Slam, and then they convinced us to spend the night even though we didn't bring anything with us.  We all stayed up super late (well except for the little guy).  However, it was super fun partying.

On Monday I took her on base to have Dexter play at the splash pad.  Oh man.  He did not like this even though it we thought it was super fun stuff.  Most of them were large and loud, so I kind of understand.  After making him cry while "playing" in it for a few minutes we finally just dried off and sunbathed.

The Wading Pool

Well it got warm enough and I was tired of being cooped up inside so I busted out Dexter's little wading pool.  We even invited a few friends over, only Joe was able to make it.  But they made it a bit more fun for us.

Dex was unsure of playing in it at first.  I joined him in the water and showed him how awesome it was.  We played for 1.5 hours out there, and was super tired when we all finished up.  Plus no sunburns.  Yay.

 It's quite the wading pool.  Slide, stacking rings, dolphin to ride on, and a little cave.

We even brought it out again Saturday afternoon since Kyle missed playing in it with him on Thursday.  He was a little tired starting out, so he ended early.  Some neighbor kids did come over and play in it too (we invited them).

Oh this is funny.  Kyle and I bought Dexter 2 books.  A Baby's First Colors and a Star Wars ABC book.  I was reading the ABC book and it went like: a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, m, o, p, u, v, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z.  Did you notice the problem?  Queen Amidala and R2-D2 were missing.  We did get it swapped with a correct book.

Well to me this was one of the worst Father's Day.  Only cause I had to give a talk in church.  Ugh!!  I kept forgetting about it, but did write it in time.  But I was super stressed out, and during the talk you could really tell I was nervous.  Kyle handled Dex quite well during the whole sacrament...except for when I started speaking.  Dak hadn't noticed I was gone, until I was at the pulpit speaking.  So they had to step into the foyer, and I guess he saying "momma, momma" while out there.  Kyle did say it was a sweet thing for me to talk though and was a nice gift.

Kyle did get a new watch for Father's Day.

The Relief Society President did invite us over to her family's Father's Day BBQ.  It was nice, and definitely a wonderful changeup from our typical Sunday dinners.  Plus they have 3 dogs which Dexter loved petting and chasing.

Well he's a silly guy.  He has started signing though. Maybe he's been trying to do it for a while, but we recognize his signs now.  He knows All Done, More, and Food.  We're trying to do a few more now and he's slowly learning these.

Summer Days

Dexter and I have been playing outside a lot.  It's the perfect temperatures in the morning and evening.  Daytime in the shade is nice, but our backyard is super sunny then so we are hermits.  Dak did become a little spoiled.  Our neighbor was moving (later found out evicted), and asked if we wanted to keep the little playhouse thing they had.  YES!  He already played all over it, along with the rest of the kids in our row.  It's still a bit big for him which is great, so he'll get to use it for a long time.

Kyle got me a pass to the gym and daycare.  I've even used it twice this week!  I love the daycare.  Dexter just walks right on in, doesn't cry or look back.  I'm then able to get an hour workout without him screaming his head off.  So far I've taken spin classes.  Its been fun, but my bum is definitely sore.  Even more than the muscles.  I hope to keep it up though.  I need to lose weight.  I gained a bunch over the last two months, and no I'm not pregnant.  Just getting fat.

I got a surprise Tuesday night.  The house had been a wreck...like horrible train wreck.  The previous two days were busy with things.  I went out visiting teaching and took Dexter with me.  Thought Kyle might like an hour alone at home.  When I got back, he had cleaned the living room and kitchen all up.  It was so wonderful!  He even vacuumed...which I haven't seen since we've been married.

Dexter has learned which snacks he likes, and if I accidentally leave them within reach he'll grab, open and eat out of them.

It Isn't Any Trouble Just to S-M-I-L-E

That smiley face is what we've been having ALL week!  He's been such a giggly and smiley kid.  I love it.  It's definitely made my days easier.
He's also being a big chatterbox.  Like rambling on and on.  Inflections, pauses for responses, etc.  Such a goof.  I'm sure he's trying to tell us stuff, but all we can really reply back is: Yeah?  Oh really.  You don't say.  He's satisfied enough with those.
We went on a very long walk on Saturday morning.  It was the one where we took family pictures at, and is such a beautiful trail all around it.  Made us want to live near it.

Oh he's also turned a daddy's boy (and still a mommy's boy).  He wants to be around Dad, and is sad when he leaves.  One of the best parts of the day is when Kyle gets home Dexter walks really fast (not running yet) with big smiles and holds out his hands.  You can tell he's excited for when Kyle walks in that door.
