Finally it was time for the beach!
We snagged a sweet townhouse that was just steps (lots of stairs) away from it's own private beach. In the townhouse was Matt & Audrey ( & Remi), Sam & Tyler, our family, and NubNub & PopPop. There were 3 bedrooms upstairs. We got the one with two bunkbeds. The kids took the bottom beds, and Kyle and I each got our own top bed. One downside...no a/c in August. Our room got HOT. Jake and Suzanne stayed at Uncle Bob's house, which was only 15-20 minutes away.

We got there in the evening of Saturday, and took a quick walk on the beach. Then Sunday we went to the local ward, and afterwards went to Uncle Bob and Aunt Lorraine's house in San Diego for lunch. They even surprised Ellie with a birthday cake for her third birthday, which was that day.

Of course NubNub and PopPop spoiled the birthday girl. She loved all her new stuff, and wears her purse whenever she can, and her new clothes all the time too.

Monday we went down to the beach and spent many hours there. It was a great day, and no one got sunburned...except for me. I had set the timer and applied it to my face, and then everyone else...and before I could finish my legs, I got distracted. So because of Mom Brain, I ended up with some nice lobster red legs.
We had planned on doing every other day at the beach. With my sunburned legs I definitely enjoyed giving them a break. We took a stop at the San Diego temple, and then went to the aquarium with Uncle Jake and Aunt Suzanne!

We had another fun beach day, and later that night Kyle and I snuck away on a date for dinner but came back in time for sunset and games.

On Thursday, Aunt Suzie and Leah came to visit us. There were some tennis games, and then some beach time.

Friday we took a break from the beach in the morning, and went to go visit La Jolla. We even got NubNub to come along with us.
