Eleanor...Gee I Think Your Swell

She's here and came starting with plan 4, and finished out with plan E.  We just joke now that when the doctor finally chooses a way (which ends up not being any of the original plans), then they plan their own escape instead.

On Tuesday at the doctor's appointment from the ultrasound we learned that she had turned breech.  This was a little of a relief for me because it took away all the inner struggles I was having.  We then got an appointment for a c-section at the hospital for Thursday morning.

Wednesday morning she was going crazy in my belly waking me up.  So I was up for like an hour sitting there, getting some water, etc.  I went and laid back down even though she was still wiggly.  All of a sudden I feel a large kick, and then a huge gush of something.  She had broke my water!

We called a ward friend up at 4 in the morning to come over and watch Dexter.  Then we went on over to the hospital.  We got all checked in and then just had to wait because it was a really busy morning in L&D. So they ultrasounded her one last time...transverse.  Than there was lots of meconium in the amniotic fluid.  Plus I wasn't having contractions and was overdue.  As the nurse said...3 strikes she's out.

Surgery went smoothly.  Although they had a little struggle pulling her out (according to Kyle's description) since it was by her bum first.  Kyle followed her as they cleaned her up, and he even got to pick out the bow.

The hospital was pretty uneventful.  My nurses were all really great and made my stay nice.  I was by myself for most the time.  Kyle would visit me every now and then with Dexter, but the kid would go crazy after like 30 minutes in the room.  I spent my solitary time reading and sleeping.  It was kind of nice.  Audrey drove up early to see her niece and also watched Dexter so Kyle could spend Friday dinner with me.

The c-section recovery seems to be a little better than last time.  Maybe it's because it is, or I just know what to expect.  Although I did go a little crazy cause I was bed ridden for 1.5 days this time.

She's been a great baby so far, and Dex has mostly loved having baby sister Ellie around.  He loves looking at her, and kissing her, and giving her stuff.  However, holding her he politely refuses saying: "No Thank You." It's kind of funny because he doesn't say that for anything else.

Is vs. Was

It's a little disappointing to have to answer the following question this way.
When IS your due date?
It WAS yesterday.
And then you get the list of all the old wives tales of different ways they've known people to induce labor.

 

As of yet no sign of the little baby coming.  The doctor appointment went well.  I still have lots of fluid, she's measuring at a little less than 8 lbs., everything else (except for my body saying it's ready to come) looked hunky dory.  So the doctor asked me what I'd like to do.

My options are:
Wait up to a week after, but preferred not to go the whole week (by me and the doc)
Inducing (but this is limited and not preferred by my doctor for me specifically)
C-Section

I chose to wait 3.5 days, and check again.  I do like my doctor and she's really patient with the baby and trying to have this a VBAC. Tomorrow we'll see if anything has happened and play from there. 

I did think I was starting to get contractions this morning (so far I only have 1, maybe 2, tiny one a day).  Nope, just indigestion.  Bummer.

Well, I'm spending my time when Kyle is here pretty productively.  He has this Friday off, and then his last furlough day is next Friday!  They shortened the amount furloughs from 11 to 6.  We're excited cause this means normal sized paychecks return soon.  We had planned to use some of those mandatory days off for moving and such, but I'd rather have full pay.

So we're boxing up the house, trying to clean some parts of it, and in general just getting ready for a baby and moving until further notice.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

Well only 2 days away from my due date, and still no sign of the little one.  I have a doctor's appointment later, so it'll be fun to see Elle on the ultrasound and see what the doctor says.

This weekend we had Kyle's mom able to visit us.  I'm sure she was praying that the little child would be here before her visit, but that didn't work out.  She came up for a wedding of one of Kyle's cousins.  She watched Dexter on Saturday and Kyle and I took a mini date. 

Went to the Habitat For Humanity Restore (thrift shop/building item junkyard) to look and see what they had.  Then we hit up Chipotle.  This was the extent of our date, but it was nice to grab some time alone before we'll have 2 kids.  And that just sounds like craziness!  2 kids!

We took Leanne and checked out Smith and Edwards.  Imagine a large cowboy warehouse/army surplus/random store where there's tons of "that is so awesome I never knew I needed it" store. That's this store in essence.  It's fun to wander around though and see all the random stuff, along with the tools, kitchen gadgets, camping, and many many other things.

Dexter loved having Nub Nub to play with.  It made his naptimes a little more difficult being so excited to have someone.  One of the times we let him stay up, he eventually crashed while snuggling with her.  He definitely missed her when she left.

So just sitting, waiting and see if the little girl will come anytime soon, and hopefully on her own.
