Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days Of Summer

I was so excited for Memorial Day Weekend to come.  Visions of drifting in a pool with the sun shining down, was such a wonderful thought.  Not much happened leading up to to this weekend, except for the glucose test at the doctor's and then all the preparations for going out of town.

The drive down and back was wonderful.  So much space in that minivan, even though going down it was packed pretty full because we had my cousin's boxes in it. WAY more comfy than the backseat of the Mazda.  We drove Thursday evening so didn't get into Vegas until 12, and since Dex slept a bunch of the trip.  Guess who didn't want to go to sleep anymore?  That was the only downside, but it just took him an hour to realize that he was still exhausted, then we all crashed.  Driving back Tuesday was nice, since most the traffic would have been Monday.  We even got to bust out the tablet holder so Dak could watch movies for the last leg.  It was silent back there while the movie was going.

Friday morning I worked with my mom on my quilt.  She is the expert, and my attempt at it needed a look over along with help to complete it.  All of Friday morning and afternoon we worked on it, then she was awesome and continued working on it while we were at the Hansens.  It's now almost, almost completely done.  We tied it and bound it while there.  There's just a few places where my sewing wasn't quite complete so the holes need to be patched up.  But I'm so excited it's all done!  Just took like 1 year right?

Well except for Friday morning and a few hours on Sunday with my family, the weekend was with the Hansens.  We went swimming twice.  The first time after the sun was gone, and the water was cold, but with friends.  The second time the sun was still out, water cold but more bearable with the hot sun.

We also visited the pick and pay orchard/farm in the area.  It was pretty cool to see all that they can still grow in the desert.  The vegetables we picked were zuchinni and carrots.  I also tried to take a quick family photo in front of some of the apple trees.

Dak played a ton with Nub Nub's stock pile of Cars cars.  He would zone out anyone while those things were out, and played by himself.  Kyle also found his Star Wars spaceships from his kid years, and these were/are a huge hit with Dex too.  I'm definitely learning all the X-wing, A-wing, TIE Interceptor, Millenium Falcon and so much more Star Wars lingo.

That's pretty much it.  Just lots of fun play time with family.

I'm also at 30 weeks in 2 days.  Only 10 more weeks!  The days go by slowly sometimes, but the weeks seem to pass quickly.  Hopefully these last 10 will.  Yesterday, I had to take the 3 hour glucose test because I failed the first one.  Let's say I hope to never repeat that with later kids.  5 pokes (should have been 4 but one time the vein wasn't cooperating) and 3 hours with Dak at the doctor's office.  I'm so glad this office has a huge playground with two slides and everything.  Dex was so well behaved for having been there so long.  A few of the nurses even commented on how good he was.  He really is a great and well behaved kid.  Some days are rough with parenting and discipline, but in the long run shortcuts don't get you anywhere.  Grateful he is an awesome kid!

Dive In

Swim class ended.  I'm glad it was only two weeks.  Each lesson exhausted me and him.  Then i don't think my swimsuit would be able to cover the growing belly for much longer.  He finished it, but he didn't graduate.  Since he refused to float on his back, or blow bubbles...and a few more skills, he didn't get recommended to the next level.  But he at least likes playing in the water, just not getting that hair wet.

How we both felt after each lesson

Hello third trimester!  And hello all the comfortableness of it too.  With an April baby, having a built in heater was awesome during the winter.  It's already May, and I am warm/hot.  It will be a LONG summer until August.

I just got a new calling.  It's now the First Counselor in the YW, instead of just an advisor.  It's a different change, but I don't have to teach the lessons as often.  WOOT!  That was such a struggle, but my adviser is excited to try our group.  But I do have to plan, and do a few more other things.  So it kind of evens out.

We checked out our first house.  It was one listed and had only a one week window for the bids, so we thought we'd go check it out.  It was not awesome.  Partly because it was a HUD home, and was beat up and then there were other things I just didn't like.  But it was a good house to just look and get a feel for things.  One day we'll find our house, but it wasn't that one.

Mother's day was great.  Dexter slept until his normal time.  This was a gift because for 2 weeks he thought waking up 1.5 hours earlier would be awesome.  Then Kyle cooked me breakfast...for dinner.  He needs to do that more often because we didn't end up with burned pancakes and the eggs were just right, unlike my way of making it.  Kyle even surprised me by getting me a gift.  We had said that my maternity swimwuit would be it, but he thought to get me something else.  It was a complete surprise.  So yep, a simple but great day.

Dex and I enjoy our time together.  He wears me out, and so does pregnancy.  But everyday he says new stuff, enjoys new things, and is a sweet little guy.  Like today I had just laid down for a nap when he woke up from his.  So I asked him if I could take a short nap, and he could play quietly with his cars.  And guess what?  He did!  I was so thankful and happy with him.  He understands so much more than I think sometimes.

All Tired Out

Kyle took Friday off, and it was nice to have him around for 3 days.  We got the cars all washed and sparkly, with a little garage cleaning.  But our biggest accomplishment was for this guy.  We figured it was time to graduate Dexter to a real bed.

We've had 2 nights and 2 naps.  All have gone amazingly.  He's even napped longer and comes out all happy with his toys when he's done.  Hopefully it'll keep this up.

It's also swim lesson time!  We plan on going to Vegas sometime this summer, and I'm hoping with the lessons things he'll be more comfortable with it.

It's a lot of work for him, and a lot for me.  After just our 45 minute class he's tired.  And I'm wiped out for the rest of the day.  But he's learning pretty good.
