Saggin'

Since this wasn't a busy weekend with Kyle's homework load we snuck in two dates.  Nothing fancy of course, but still loved time with my guys.  Friday night was a fun trip to the park.  Dex can go up the stairs, across the bridge and go down the slides all by himself.  Then repeat...many, many times.  We just have to make sure he doesn't step off the many exits.

Of course when at the park you also should play ball in the grass with dad, and have mom teach you to roll.
Loves pushing his stroller around

Play ball!

Kyle did work on some homework.  I got a break from the guys and helped glue some sheep handouts together for an upcoming Relief Society thing.  When I came back I found this:

Our date Saturday night was just renting from RedBox.

On Sunday instead of regular church they had the Brigham City Temple Dedication broadcasted.  Kyle took the first viewing, and I got the second.  Dex was too young to go, so we had to switch off.  Also 'cause it wasn't full church I dressed Dexter in some new clothes to see how they'd work out.  The clothes were his stash of 2T/24 months since he's growing out of some stuff.  I guess they're still a little too big.

We thought it was hilarious and took pictures, before deciding we should change his outfit.

I am still working out, but no weight changes.  After last night and today I should be building some muscle.  Last night I went to a new class called RockSolid.  Basically it's free-weightlifting.  It killed me, and I was so sore when I woke up today.  But today, was my normal morning workout of Spin class.  After doing that, I'm now trying to use the stairs as little as possible today.

Dex has been loving to read all his books.  He prefers if we read with him, but I do catch him a lot reading on his own.  We're working on him signing book, but for him right now it is a jumble of the hands.
Ah you caught me reading!
Look ma, I can read!
He later added pillows and all his stuffed animals to his little hideout.

Crazy Train

Last week was a little busy.

Kyle had 3 projects all due Wednesday.  Until Wednesday night at 11:30 he sort of was mostly not around. He thankfully would take a few breaks and play with Dex.  Which is a nice relief for me.  Plus Kyle is loving Dexter's play ability right now.  Cars, swords, nerf stuff, etc.
Running around fighting with the Nerf Hatchets
Battling each other
Thursday while Kyle was at school, Dex and I took a train ride to SLC.  I was super nervous about doing this.  Just I didn't have a cell phone in case I got lost or couldn't find people, so I think that was a big part of it.
Loved watching things pass by.

We rode into SLC to meet up with my cousins who were at a DoTerra Convention.  Mariah (she's the one who we do game nights with) and then Carleen, her sister, were the two.  Carleen also had her 5 month old Ashton who was such a cute, light-weight baby.  We walked and talked around City Creek shopping center.  Much easier to do this not being packed like opening weekend.  Kyle met up with us there.  Then we rode the Trax and FrontRunner home with Kyle.
It was pretty dark when we arrived back to Clearfield.
Friday was pretty sweet.  One of my awesome friends and college roommates moved up to Clinton a bit ago.  She had told Kyle that she's free Friday evenings and could watch Dex for us.  We jumped on that offer!  The Elders Quorum was having a temple night, and we got to join them.  It was the busiest I've ever seen a temple.  At 6:45 they started the 7 pm session, and more than half the people in the chapel didn't get to go.  Craziness.  Anyways, it was super nice to go to the temple.  Feel the Spirit, peace and comfort that it can give you.
Already bonding...
She said Dexter did just fine with us gone.  This was his first non-family babysitting...other than daycare for my gym time.  Thanks Caryn!

Saturday I went to a funeral.  It was for a lady I visit teach's son who passed away from brain cancer.  It was sad because of how young he was, and leaving behind a young family.  But very touching with how he lived his life and touched so many others, even cracking jokes all through treatments and such.

Sunday was filled with doing church things.  Meetings, meetings, church, hometeaching, fireside.  The fireside was good and uplifting though.  One Clear Voice sang and presented beautiful messages.  It was so busy we only got a 5 minute video chat in with Nub Nub and Pop Pop.

I think Monday was the only day without something planned.  Well except for clean the house because it pretty much exploded over the weekend.  Gah!
How the house explodes: Batman!
However we finally got to have a play-date with someone!  A lady my age just moved in down the street with kids right above and right below Dexter.  They all came over and had fun playing with books, stuffed animals, and eating watermelon.  It was fun, and we plan on doing it again soon.  Yay!
Busy and tiring week.
This is for the grandparents, or whoever wants to watch.  Dak loves talking, and loves to talk on the phone with grandparents.  However, to him anything is a phone we put to our ear.  Be it his calculator, car, or in this case a kitchen timer.

Seasons Change

It is slowly turning fall.  Cooler days.  So beautiful.  But not the huge praying mantis I found on my chair outside.  It was as big as my hand.  Eugh.  I'd take a mantis over a spider or cockroach though.
The picture doesn't make it look as large as it was.
Saturday was busy.  There was a funeral that I went to help set up and then come back and serve the food.  Kyle had to watch Dex while trying to do his homework.  He has 3 large homework assignments all due the same day.  His time of doing nothing this semester quickly came to an end.  We did go on a bike ride again Saturday night for him to take a break.
Had to take a break for this guy to stretch his legs
We made it all the way to Kaysville.  It was a total of 13.5 miles, and took us about 1.5 hours.  We started late so it was pretty dark on the trail back.  I was so red faced, jelly legs, and tired by the end.  Kyle was nothing.  The end we sprinted because there were some very shady people hanging out in the trees, and during the sprint is the only time Kyle sweated a little.  Not fair.

Was attacking the camera.
We have been keeping busy.  Things here and there.  Dexter is learning so much and fast.  I'll tell him to do stuff, but then I am surprised he understood what I was saying.  Now he'll help me with the laundry.  Taking things out of the washer and dryer.  Kind of picks up his toys.  Goes to the fridge now to ask for his milk.  He's even expanded his signing with 3 new things this week.  It makes it a lot easier trying to ask what he wants sometimes.  Although usually it's food and more.  The little boy loves to eat snackingly but not meals.

Clean room to dirty room...just give him 3 minutes.
I've been really good about being consistent going to the gym.  Haven't seen any changes yet, but I am loving going.  I tried deep water aerobics.  Good class except for 95% of them all being over 70.  Only me and someone I convinced to come with me were under 60.  It made for many laughs.

Loves pulling out all the shoes and trying on dad's especially.
Kyle takes the train every day and it goes well.  Last night though Kyle was pretty stressed.  He left his wallet on the train.  Ahhh.  We called customer service and they were able to get someone to find it 2 stops after.  Not even disturbed with everything in it.  Thank goodness.

His love for his stuffed animals is so big.  He tries to take them everywhere in the house.
Loves speaking into fans to hear the voice reverb.

Cycling Is Fun

No travelling for this 3-day weekend!  Sometimes it's nice just to enjoy an extra day to a weekend.  It was filled with cleaning our house and the church building.  Monday was the best.  Kyle helped someone in the ward move boxes in the morning.
Loved Dad doing these blanket rides.  Kept hopping on blankets to tell us more...and very good at signing please to make it happen.

Then though we ran some errands and I got a new mode of transportation.  A new..........bike!  It is a pretty cheap one, but it's not bad.  I was tired of using Kyle's that didn't fit me well, and it's gears would jump.  Now I can do something while Kyle has the car at work.  Walking in the stroller is fine for the short trips like doing some visiting teaching, walking around or shopping at the grocery store.  Now I can get to some of the other people's houses and our church building quicker than walking a bunch.  Just hitch up the trailer, put Dexter in, and off I go.

Well as a test run to the bike we had our first family bike outing.  It was really nice on the bike trail.  The trail is an old rail line they converted.  You have to stop at many road crossings.  Other than the long section closest to us that is all ugly, smelly industrial buildings...you see lots of farms and even wildlife.  Seven deer and my first fox!  I was shocked to see it so close.  We'll definitely be doing those.  Although with not being used to that bike seat the 9 miles we did made my bum sore the next day.  Dak also hated the last half of the trip and was crying a storm.  I could hear it while I was falling behind Kyle.
About to start our bicycle ride.  My bike's on the ground in the left corner.  Dak's in the trailer with his new helmet.

Anyways....so yeah cleaning and bikes.  A great weekend.
