It's off and he is a walking!! But those didn't happen all at the same time. So let's start with the first exciting part....cast coming off!
I ended up having a stomach bug the morning of his appointment. No matter how much I wanted to be there as he got it off, it wasn't going to work out. Kyle got to be the parent to go, and he took pictures for me...even emailing them to me during the visit so I felt like I was a part of it.
We did try to tell Dex that the cast was coming off, but we also didn't want to get his (or our) hopes up too high in case it needed another week.
| What it looked like by the end. Beige and white moleskin, zebra and green duct tape, two diapers, and a tube sock for the other leg...and one nasty cast |
| It was hard to have them snuggle together, but we managed it for one last time with the cast. |
| At the doctor's office waiting to be called back |
| He was a little traumatized by it coming off |
| A little happier though...slightly smiling |
| He came home and just wanted to sit...his legs automatically went to their former position |
Getting the cast off didn't mean that his legs automatically worked. The doctor said the hip joints and knees would be very stiff and sore for a while. And of course the muscles were emaciated from not being used and such. So they told us it would be a few days before walking.
It took him about a week. He at first liked us to help him walk around, but he was very slow and got tired quickly. His crawling skills though were super fast, and he preferred this method. Then suddenly one day he just stood up and walked.
The first day of walking resembled somebody who just rode a horse for a long time. Wide legged, and swinging them around to take steps.

| Right after walking again |
Even though he was pretty stiff and sore, and wasn't mobile again....Dex was super happy that cast was off.
| He liked to sit in his Jake chair |
| Got to put on his new shirts...and PANTS again! This one was from Aunt Audrey. |
| He didn't like Ellie messing with his track in the living room, so he moved it to the parlor...where she can't go. Clever boy. |
| Somehow crawling, jumping, and dancing to music on my bed is the funnest thing |
| Silly Boy |
Well Ellie can almost crawl. She definitely can move in a forward motion, very quickly. Next week I'll make a blog mostly about her since she's grown up since I've talked about her much. Now to enjoy having a boy who can walk and run again! Too bad it's a butt cold winter outside so only indoor playing.
| She cut her two bottom teeth! |
| Somehow managed to get caught under this end table |
| Almost crawling |
| My beautiful girl!!!!!! |
Some other random things.
I won a blog giveaway and it came with some awesome prizes. The best is a Le'Creuset! I have a knock off enamled dutch oven, and use it ALL the time. This one is smaller than mine, but it's so pretty. Can't wait to use it...along with the other goodies in there.
| A new Le'Creuset, 3 cast iron skillets, measuring cups, peeler, and a microplane...great haul |
Kyle and I have been changing our diet (again). However we're doing very good, and I'll explain when we have some awesome photos to show. Anyways, it's making me experiment with veggies. Here is one...a zucchini pizza crust pizza. It has a tomato/spinach sauce. Turkey pepperoni, onions, jalepenos and tomatoes on top. It actually was pretty good.

| Yummy veggie, cheese and meat goodness |
