So this Saturday was a windy day. Kyle was excited. He has a fascination with kites and is always trying to fly them. However, it seems like whenever there is a nice steady wind, we don't have time and/or a place to go fly a kite. On Saturday though...it was windy...and was constant. So Kyle all excited since nothing is planned and there are a few detention basins by where we are staying at...everything seemed to be aligned. We pack up the three kites (dragon, a heavy one, and a new stunt kite), drive to the place and walk down into the basin. We pull out one kite and put it all together with a lot of struggle. The wind kept wanting to pull it away. Finally its done and I'm slowly unraveling it. It's taking a lot of effort not to let the reel just spin crazily out of control...that probably should have been a hint.
There I am, flying the kite and it's staying up really well. That is until the string snaps in half, and the kite goes flying. It dives across and through 2 softball games, and then we lose track of it. Kyle goes running after it, while I....just watched.
Eventually, after much searching we both find it wrapped around a bush. And that was the end of the kite flying adventure.
