Sparks Fly

It's been hot here, and as an extremely pregnant person it feels twice as hot.  So usually we stay inside, which isn't exciting for the kids.  However, I picked up a few things that would be easy on me and still fun for the kids for some outdoor play.

Water balloons are super fun.  However, they are so hard to entertain kids with because it takes you a long time to fill up a few, but only a few seconds for them to plow through them.  Patience is required, which is not what toddlers have.  The kids allow me to just sit and keep filling them up though while they swim and throw them occasionally at each other.

Dad joined in while he was working on the playground some more

They liked throwing them at him

A bit of swimming

After they were all gone we used the fill attachment to spray the kids
The other item I have in my summer arsenal is popsicles!  Nothing like eating a cold otter pop or other kind on a hot day.

When dad's inside, and your outside wanting it squeezed up
As of tomorrow, I only have one week until Flynn comes.  So crazy to think.  At my appointment the doctor was just starting measuring the baby then asked..."How big were your previous babies?" I told her 7.5 and then almost 8 lbs.  Well apparently this one is already measuring over 8 lbs, and still had 2 weeks to cook.  On the final calculations it said the baby is estimated at 40 weeks (I was only at 37.5).  Oy.  No wonder I've been feeling like this one has been way more uncomfortable.

He tried dodging pictures again, but eventually got him to wiggle and get a 3D ultrasound.  You can already see some chubby cheeks in the picture.
Chubby cheeks and pouty lips...crazy what the ultrasounds can see
After coming back from our wedding trip, Kyle stayed home from work that Friday and worked on the playground some more.  It's pretty much the never ending project right now between him having EQ meetings each week, I have YW each week, then all the other stuff going on....and me not being helpful towards it at all.
However, we made a big and fun improvement to it.
Putting the monster together

With it's new ladder and slide!
All year long we had heard about how West Point does an awesome Fourth of July.  This year we got to try out some of it.  They do stuff (almost all of it free) all day long.

We didn't get to try out the daytime stuff.  Leanne and Bruce had come up to visit us, but also to go to a 50th wedding anniversary of Leanne's aunt and uncle.  Kyle also went, and took the kids.  I had many hours of just me time!  It was great.  I took a leisurely walk through Target.  Probably not so good because I kept thinking of things I'd need.  Watched a few episodes of a new favorite show, When Calls the Heart. Ate lots of bowls of cereal (my current craving).  And just enjoyed the peace and laziness.

Once the family got home, we joined in the "Party at the Point."  The city provided a free dinner, had a concert by Greg Simpson (Kyle and Bruce actually have been to other concerts of his), and enjoyed the fireworks.  It was a 15 minute long show, and they were literally right above us.
Climbed the new playground

Trying to get a selfie of everyone is hard.

Exhausted from playing so hard on the playground

Dad was her climber during the concert

The Greg Simpson band with Jessie Funk

She has no fears, just climbs everything she's allowed to

Fast new slides

Nub Nub kept an eye on her

Listening to the band

We got them snow cones to help them wait until firework time

He was super excited

Leanne and Bruce joining us for the celebration

Yummy snow cones

Ka-Boom!

Having to lay back to see the fireworks
It was a super fun time in our little city but it went late and the kids were exhausted.  Which was exhibited to people around us by Dexter crying because we weren't staying to watch the movie, and then later crying about many little things before he finally zonked out.

Now for the random pictures throughout the week in between all that fun.
On the drive home from Vegas we stopped at McD's and got happy meals.  Hence the "happy" face.

She came out dressed like this.  Nerd onsie undone, Mario shorts (stolen from Dexter's new jammies) and one pink slipper on.

Pretending to play the guitar

We had our own little band sesh.  Dexter on drums, Ellie on guitar, and mom singing.  It was an awesome ABC song.

Ice blocking with the YW.  Don't worry, I didn't particpate.  Just sat in a chair and watched them.

Had a movie night while Dad was at a friend's house.  Movie nights need popcorn.
