Off to Utah!

Note:  This will probably be long and no pictures.

So about 2 days ago (Monday) Kyle left me.  He is now a Utahn (but a Las Vegan always in heart).  I was fine the first two days, but today missing him is really starting to kick in and I don't like it.

We had gone up to the Layton area to look for a place to rent.  After a lot of contacting people and researching online we had one day to look at about 5-6 of them.  Our plan was to look on Monday, decide by that night.  Then on Tuesday sign papers and what else.  Then on Wednesday we drove home.

All of the properties were cheaper rentals...and many looked that way.  However, we're okay with that because we'll be saving more money so we can move on up to a nicer neighborhood in our own house sooner.  We found a place through a property manager.  The place was actually his friend's and he was trying to rent it for him.  It was part of a three plex.  The interior wasn't cleaned yet and smelled like a lot of pets (we found out later that it was the smell of 4 pit bulls in a tiny place).  However, it actually wasn't that bad.  Covered parking connecting to the door, front yard, and a common backyard.  So we signed a lease.

We get back home, and a few days later get a call.  The guy's friend hasn't been able to be reached for all the okays.  But the prop. manager had a basement that just opened up, and he called it to be much nicer.  We didn't get to check it out, so now Kyle decided to go up sooner and get things situated throughout the next week.

So Friday the moving people came and boxed up all our stuff in just a few hours.  They left a lot of the boxes I packed.  They dumped stuff into other ones.  Saturday morning the movers came to pack it into a large semi.  Our stuff was piled 14' high in there.  It was crazy.  I just hope everything makes it through okay.  Fingers crossed.  The driver then told us it wouldn't be until Saturday or Sunday that it would be delivered. We were originally told like Wednesday or Thursday...a big setback for unpacking everything now.  But what can you do.

Kyle then left on Monday.  He liked the basement (quite a bit better than the other place) and now has the keys for it.  It's 2.5 bedrooms, with 1 bath.  He's set up utilities which should be on today.  Kyle also has gotten the insurances, and has ran so many errands.  Up there doing everything by himself.

So yeah...that's the update of the transition for now.

  1. Good Luck with everything. That doesn't sound fun being away from him knowing you could be helping. When are you planing on moving up here?

  2. I move up at the end of my semester. So officially on May 9th I'll be on my way up there. Kyle's actually staying at your mom's place right now.

  3. Congratulations on moving... Sounds fun. Keep us informed of where you end up because we'll probably be following in about a year!
