Happy Trails

It seems lately that we either have busy weeks or do nothing weeks.  Which is pretty nice so then I can try and catch up.

Late late Thursday night some friends started their stay at our house.  It was my college roommate and friend who got married back in December, Wendy and Chris.

Friday they convinced for me and Dak to join them on a hike.  Chris was nice enough to carry the 20+ pound kid, in the 2 pounds away from maximum carrier.  The hike was a bit more intense then we realized, but it was beautiful with all the fall trees.

After the hike, Kyle got home from school and we had fun chatting.  However, we couldn't chat long since we had to pack....for a trip to Vegas!  But no driving this time.  Instead we were flying!
Chris and Wendy were actually staying and housesitting while we were gone.  Thanks guys!

The airport wasn't bad.  We had an hour delay which put Dexter an hour past his bedtime, so he was getting a bit fit throwing and whiney.  He was so asleep before we even were finished with our ascent and slept the whole time that it made up for it.

Dak made Nub Nub's night when in the airport he smiled and ran towards her and Pop Pop.
Saturday was filled with conference watching, and showing off Dexter's tricks.  He signs and has some words now, and learned more on the trip too.

I forgot my makeup, and we had time to kill while the guys were at the priesthood session.  So Audrey came with me to see what free makeup sampling I could get at the mall.  It was fun wandering around the stores.  I felt like there were so many cute clothes right now, mainly cause it's fall season!  I ended up getting some makeup from Clinique that took a lot of my red face away in foundation, and not just turn it pink...and scored a bonus bag.

The main reason for the trip was Kyle's 10 year reunion!  The first night was at a bar to meet and greet in a casual environment.  We enjoyed our Shirley Temples and Kyle talked with a few people.  Luckily, there was another wife there that I've met a couple times and so we chatted quite a bit while the husbands met with classmates.

Sunday we went to my family and watched more General Conference.  The afternoon though was a family picnic for the high school reunion.  Luckily we knew two people going and met up with them.  Because that's all of the Western group we found.  It was a huge and awesome playgrounds, just not for kids under the age of 3.
The splash pad was still on at the park.  Didn't like it too much.
Since most of our family members have jobs Monday morning we went and visited some friends who we don't always get to see, Katy and Chris.  Dexter got along well with their little 8 month old, and they even looked like they could be related.  Blond hair, similar faces.  It was fun visiting with them, and I wish they lived closer.

FHE was pretty cool because we went and visited Kyle's cousin who had just returned home from his mission.  It was a good lesson by him, and great treats from Aunt Jana.

Tuesday we went back to my family, and so that my mom could take us back to the airport.  Another good experience at the airport.  Each time we flew we had kept our carseat with us so that it wouldn't get all banged up in checked baggage.  And each time we were boarding the attendants told us there was enough seats to use it.  I have to say it was so nice not to have our squiggly child in our laps, but sitting comfortably in his seat.  This time he fell asleep while taxiing on the runway and didn't wake up until just before descent.

We kind of crashed the next day.  Even went early to bed we were wiped out.  I did manage to make a birthday present for a visiting teaching sister of mine.  It was experimental, and needs some work if I plan on making more in the future.  But I think it turned out okay...
