Easter Party

Randomly on Thursday Dexter decided he didn't want his diaper on.  So what do I do?  Start potty training!  He started off much better than my previous attempt.  It gave me hope to continue on.  After a week plus we're still working hard.  Going through many underwear, but also having some good moments.
Just the beginning...

It also means many photos of a kid only in underwear coming up.

Saturday was Dexter's birthday!  He is now 3 years old.  We celebrated by me taking him to an Easter Egg Hunt.  Our city was hosting one, so we decided to participate.  The age groups were 0-2, and 3-5.  He joined the 3-5, and was more than likely the youngest one.
Waiting for the signal to start

I held and he grabbed the eggs
He did better than previous years, but he wanted to shake each one at first to make sure there was stuff in them.  I think he got around 8 eggs, but he was happy.

The Las Vegas Hansens video called the birthday boy, sang to him and we opened up the presents he got from them.  We learned that you should keep the big exciting ones for last.  He couldn't take his eyes off his new Lego Duplos Jake and the Neverland Pirate sets.
Already built the legos, now onto the toy plane

These stepping stones are super fun for him
We basically just played with those toys for the rest of the day.
The next day was EASTER! I had actually got everyone some new clothes, and they all coordinated.  Amazing for me.
All dressed up for church, and even has a bow in!

Everyone!
My parents and Melynn came to visit us.  Melynn helped us set up our own little Easter Egg hunt.

Then we opened some presents.
Books, imaginext and Nerf bow and arrow
Then the cake!  We got some ice cream cake to celebrate. He blew each candle out one by one.

Melynn and my mom took Dexter to the Treehouse Museum on Monday.  Kyle had taken the whole week off for staycation and my parents were here to help us out.
There was two main projects to work on.  The backyard was first priority.
Semi-before
Over a few days, they tore out some grass on the west side of our house.  Tore out random unknown species tree in back. Planted 4 trees: 3 fruit trees in the back and a maple in the front.  They did hit a sprinkle line and had to repair that.  Then they weeded a portion of the west side and put in wooden garden boxes.  Those were at the house when we moved in. There were a few more, and the whole back of weeds to tackle over the next few weeks.
We chilled on the deck watching the guys work hard
He loved to dig in the dirt with them

Cleared out area for a little garden
Then we have a little mud area.  It has a bench with hidden storage in it, but nothing else.  This results on everything going on the floor or bench and then we can't access the tools in the bench.  So my dad helped us cut and install some shelves.

Putting in the shelf cleats

Shelves in, but not completely done
The shelves still need to be caulked and painted, and the coat hooks installed.

Another project we had bought the materials for it, but right after they left we installed some bathroom hooks.  Now instead of half-hanging towel rods there are bunches of hooks.

Two sets of hooks in

Grandma Gayle left on Thursday.  Grandpa Robert left Friday morning.
Saying goodbye to the kids.

Playing with PaPa
It was nice to have help watching the kids (especially when you are potty training) and help learning how to do things.

Then some random photos.
Laundry basket on bottom and on top

Tossed all the toys from her toy bin into her playpen.  She was happy at least for a little while.

Dad always gets lots of love

First time falling asleep while eating.  Se was cute.
I had been clothes shopping looking for my Easter outfit.  but so many things just weren't looking flattering.  After looking up some stuff on fashion blogs I figured out my shape and proportions.  It was interesting and explained a lot of my frustration with clothes.
I'm currently an H shape (rectangle aka no waist), and I have a short waist.  This is why tucking in, belts at the waist, and a few other things have never truly flattered me.  Well it helped when I went shopping later and could identify things.  I also started taking photos to see a bit better how it really looked on me.

I only bought that last skirt (it's in the Easter pictures)
