Times Like These

I was super busy and tired our from cleaning lots, but I did it with 30 minutes to spare before the guests got there.  Every day all week I was cleaning, but as soon as something was cleaned the kids somehow could destroy it.  Example: Clean/vacuum living room...pull out all the toys and step on snack; clean bathrooms...use this time to experiment how to aim; and many more.

The whole Thompson clan though came.  My brother and his family flew into Las Vegas.  Then on Tuesday they drove up to our house.  Dexter was happy to see everyone, but I'm pretty sure Jane became his favorite.  Jane is his cousin who is 2 years older.  All weekend he referred to her as Cousin Jane.  Not Jane, but Cousin Jane.

Wednesday was Jane's birthday.  We headed out to the Hogle Zoo.  They had just opened up a new exhibit of the African Savannah.

On the carousel with cousin Jane.  Dad and Aunt Melynn supervised the kids.

At the end, everyone happy but tired
Everyone was exhausted after the zoo.  We just chilled and got ready for Jane's little birthday celebration.  Mainly just making cupcakes. Oh just realized my sister in law took all those pictures.  Just imagine chocolate cupcakes with pink liners, chocolate frosting on top with pink pearl (edible) beads.
Aunt Melynn was a favorite with Jane and Dexter.  She would make up games for them to play, and read to them lots.
Reading a bedtime story
Thursday we all travelled down to the cabin.  Everyone left quite a bit before us, but we all made it there.
Watching Dexter play on the playground, while resting at a pit stop
The kids loved playing outside.  I can't wait until their old enough to not need such close supervising.  They're still too little, and wandered off a little too far without knowing it.  There was lots of card and board game playing on the trip.

Setting up the chipmunk traps...no luck this year

Morning reading, this time, with Aunt Melynn
Otter pops!
Lots of lounging around.  We also did take some family photos since who knows when we'll be together again.  These were a lot of work though, and definitely didn't go as I had hoped.  Blistered feet, cutting teeth baby, super sunny lighting, etc..
