Christmas Festivities

I really tried to do some Christmas things this year since Dexter actually understood some things.

One ornament from my family's tree growing up that I loved was these cinnamon ones.  Even after 20 years they still smelled delicious.  I recruited Dexter's help in making these.
Choosing which shapes to use
It did not turn out easy for him to help me.  Most of our shapes, are a little odd looking.  However...they do smell good. :)

Putting them on the pan to dry
We watched some kid Christmas movies as a family.
Popcorn was a treat for some of them
Grandma Hansen had sent us some cute clothes for the kids.  For Christmas Sunday we got them dressed up all fancy, and we even matched them.  We got evidence of the kids all cute, but not us....until a week later.
Black and red was our color theme

We had a family home evening activity where we acted out the Nativity.  The Friend had a shortened version.  Saying the lines and seeing it done, helped him understand the meaning of Christmas a little better.
Innkeeper (Dexter), Joseph (Dad), Mary (Mom), Helper (Ellie)

Angel (Ellie), Angel's Voice (Mom), Shepards (Dexter & Dad)

Then we let Dexter, and Dad joining him, sleep under the Christmas tree.

He sleeps in funny positions

For Young Women's we even decorated graham cracker houses.  Here's my beautiful example:
Tried various tips, and just a couple of candies
The kids always enjoyed opening and eating their advent calendars.
Happy morning faces

She knows there is chocolate in them

....
Lastly, on Christmas Eve we took one more drive around at Christmas lights.
Her hair reminded me of Cindy Lou Who
Here's some random pictures from things that were just day to day life, not necessarily Christmas.
They sometimes make each other laugh

They like to check the news with mom or dad

Blue candy, makes for blue lips

She sometimes chills (for like 5 seconds) when I'm not feeling my greatest

Ellie's philosphy: What is Dexter's, is mine

As a mom sometimes you find things on the floor where you have to wonder..."Is this poop or chocolate?"
Luckily...this was chocolate.
