There were some lingering snowstorms in central Utah as we drove down. Nothing bad, but I don't like driving through the mountain passes with slushy stuff on the road.

| Snow while driving.... |
The kids slept a long chunk of the trip, which was nice. However the last 2 hours was a lot of Ellie yelling for no reason. Dexter could tell when we got into Vegas..."Are those palm trees?! We must be in Vegas." On any trip around town he would point out and talk about palm trees. Do you know how many palm trees are in Vegas? Like 3 in every person's backyard!

| She ate it so contemplatively |
We stopped at my parent's house when we first got in. Some quick present unwrapping, and ate some Chinese dinner with them. Then to go to the Hansen's. There was some chilling with everyone there, and then some late night present unwrapping.

The next morning we started our service project which was part of everyone's gift to Leanne. Bruce watched Grandma Hansen (who wasn't doing well due to a UTI), Danielle watched all the kiddos, and the rest of us hauled out all the stuff from the garage, threw out destroyed carpets/wrestling mats, swept it out, semi-sorted the stuff into their groups, then put it all back in.

It was A LOT of work, and took all day. I had to stop a couple hours early because my back was killing me, and the dust was aggravating my gag reflexes. The boys worked hard, and there wasn't too much mumbling from them too.
 |
The boys were super happy to stop working and just play nintendo. I love how everyone's face has a different emotion in it. Also notice that there are 2 females willingly playing. |
Sunday we went to church with the Hansen's. It was the oddest thing ever. Dexter slept all through sacrament and was not happy to wake up. Ellie then slept ALL through Sunday School and Relief Society on me. Trevor and Kyle became the nursery leaders, and only had Dexter and Milo to watch.

| An entire family coordinated picture |
After church we headed to my parent's house. Later that night we had my cousin's Mariah and Carleen come over for some game playing. It was fun playing with Mariah again, and we loved having more people too.

Monday was not how we had imagined it would go. On the drive from Kyle's parents to my parent's he was making a left...and a median popped up right in front of the car. I had noticed it, but Kyle's 30 years of living there and it never being there made him not notice. Dexter's interpretation of the scene goes: "Mom yelled, and the van bumped." Kyle took the van in Monday and spent the whole day getting new tires and struts fixed.

| Lots of tile floors = lots of wiggle car time |

| He loved playing with Ellie's new toy |
Then my mom hadn't been feeling great at all since we arrived. She had a painful rash, and overall bad feeling. She finally went into the doctors, and was told she had shingles. Which is a very painful thing, that there isn't any medication to help with it. Just some anti-virus to stop the growth of it.

| I raised my kids right...they like boiled peanuts! |
Tuesday was back at the Hansen's. Tyler was sick, the TX Hansen's went to the Temple, Leanne was working, so it was a pretty chill time. Kyle and his dad took the carpets from the garage, and quite a few other things to the dump. Kyle and I took a little side date to Chipotle.

| Chipotle time |
Although I'm not nauseous constantly, I still have a very sensitive stomach and a quick gag reflex. This did not do well at the Hansen's house with Grandma, and the smells she can make.

| Definitely needed help |

Wednesday morning (New Year's Eve) I went to breakfast with my mom and sister, to celebrate Melynn's birthday! We each ordered yummy items...banana chocolate chip pancakes, rasberry stuffed french toast, monte cristo's.
For lunch Kyle and I snuck out again, and visited with friends who were in town. They ate pupusas (I had Panda Express), and we just talked. It was the first time in a while that all us college roommates were all together.
 |
| Caryn pointed out that we have been awesome friends for almost 10 years! |
Ellie took a while for her to warm up and smile at people. As long as they didn't touch or hold her, she warmed up to them quicker.

| Poppop is near her and she's smiling...Christmas miracle! |

For New Year's Eve we went to Aunt Jana's house. There was some great food, and we had fun with the cousins. Eventually Dexter came up to me and asked to go back to Nub Nub's house so he could go to bed. A little strange, but it was a busy week. He even quickly put on jammies, and asked for the light out.
 |
| He likes reading books at night |
Dexter woke up New Year's day lethargic and with a fever. This was also our last morning at the Hansen's. We packed up, and went to Audrey's house. She had wanted to show us her cute house.
 |
| He was pretty good after he woke up |
 |
| The newlyweds snuggled with our little sickie |
 |
| He finally squeaked out a decent smile for her |
He was just a little lump by the end of spending time there. We went to my parent's house to rest.
